Huawei Offers Smart City Development in Indonesia

Jakarta, Gizmologi – Huawei is taking proactive steps to support the development of Smart City in Indonesia. This was disclosed on the sidelines of the Indonesia-China Smart City Technology and Investment Expo 2023 event.

This event is part of efforts to strengthen the Indonesia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The goal is to support the Indonesian government towards the “100 Smart Cities Movement” and the construction of a new archipelago capital city (IKN) and a Sustainable Forest City.

Erick Thohir, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, welcomed collaboration between Indonesian and Chinese companies to tackle urban challenges such as renewable energy, food supply, and public health. Indonesia’s population is expected to surpass 300 million by 2030.

We need smart cities to overcome potential urban issues. We must find solutions that can help us overcome major challenges related to energy, food supplies, and health issues. In this regard we welcome mutually beneficial cooperation with private sectors and international partners,” said Erick.

Sharing expertise and experience supporting high-tech cities in China

Meanwhile, Huawei CEO Guo Hailong appreciated Indonesia’s government commitment to building smart cities throughout the archipelago. He stated that building smart cities can establish a solid foundation for a smart society towards realizing an important aspect of a city’s competitiveness.

Huawei has been sharing its expertise and experience at this event on supporting high-tech city development worldwide, including Shenzhen China. Guo Hailong highlighted several key factors that will accelerate smart city development.

He emphasized how important it is for governments to lead community transformations towards being more adaptive while striding towards building smart cities. He showed how smart cities with economic growth can benefit each city model. It is important to have planning and development of smart city capabilities at various levels.

“Overall, multi-sectoral collaboration is needed for sustainable smart city development,” Guo Hailong stressed. At Huawei Indonesia, we are dedicated to leading innovation and development in Indonesia. We support Digital Indonesia, contribute to the industrial ecosystem, and practice social responsibility. We are ready to collaborate with Indonesia to achieve goals related to good governance that benefit society, develop industries, and work with governments, industries, and the environment to create smart cities.

At this event, Huawei showcased its latest technology including Smart City Ecosystems, Smart Transportation, and Smart Home. The partnership between Indonesia and China is set to expand under the Global Maritime Fulcrum and Belt and Road Initiative. The two countries plan to collaborate in digital economics, education, agriculture, infrastructure financing, and other areas.

This partnership will bring about significant benefits as they work towards achieving their common goals. We will see improvements in trade, technology, and infrastructure, among others, that will benefit both their economies. The potential for growth is vast, and it is a great opportunity for both countries to strengthen their cooperation and form a lasting bond.

Huawei’s contribution towards Smart City developments in Indonesia will undoubtedly help Indonesia achieve its goal of creating a more sustainable and prosperous future.
