Jakarta, Gizmologi – The popularity of 5G smartphones continues to rise, thanks to the availability of networks that are expanding globally as well as the types of devices that are increasingly cheap. For the last point, realme as one of the top global smartphone vendors certainly contributes to making this happen. Even the most dominant in 2021.

According to a recent report from research firm Counterpoint Research, realme has managed to establish itself as the smartphone brand with the highest 5G device shipments in the world. This achievement is certainly very impressive. Considering before, realme has also managed to get a top 5 position, in around 20 global markets.

In Indonesia itself, realme has presented a number of its best 5G smartphones, available in various price classes. Starting from the Realme GT Series flagship line, to the most affordable ones, namely realme 8 5G. Later, the premium realme GT 2 Pro flagship will also of course support 5G networks, complete with bringing the best antenna hardware. Coming officially next March 22.

realme Successfully Overtakes Many Other Global Brands

realme Counterpoint Fastest Growing 5G Smartphone Brand

As seen in the image above, realme managed to get the highest growth in the value of 5G smartphone shipments compared to six other global brands. In the fourth quarter of 2021, growth reached 165% year-on-year, compared to data from the previous year. Overtaking Samsung by 109%, OPPO at 42%, and even Apple at 30%.

As the youngest smartphone brand among others, the value of this very fast growth is certainly the result of the various efforts that have been made so far. One of them is driven by the company’s expansion process to Western European countries. Call it Italy, Spain, France, England, and Switzerland. Thanks to the presence of the realme 8 5G series and several realme GT series.

Affordable 5G smartphone options in the European region have also started earlier, aka more, considering the widespread availability of the network. But other than that, Counterpoint said sales of 5G devices from realme were also quite good in other regions such as the Middle East, North Africa, and the Asia Pacific.

The three regions mentioned above are included in the majority of the 20 markets where realme 5G smartphone shipments are in the top five. The CEO and founder, Sky Li said that this achievement strengthens the company’s dedication to continue towards its ambition, namely as a democratizer of 5G, aka the one who popularized the technology.

“As a growing technology brand, realme has always been committed to encouraging young users around the world to experience the latest technologies such as 5G, and will continue to deliver exciting and future-ready devices to our global fans,” added Sky Li.

realme 8 5G itself was officially released in Indonesia in June 2021. With a price of IDR 3.199 million, consumers can already get a fast, future-proof smartphone that supports 5G networks when it becomes massively available. realme itself has presented its successor in India, the realme 9 5G with a cheaper price.
