Beijing, Gizmologi – When introducing the Vivo X200 Series to the global market on Monday (14/10), Vivo introduced a device that had never existed before. Not a Pro or Ultra variant, the vivo X200 Pro mini comes with a very interesting differentiation. Bringing specifications that keep them pinned to the word “Pro".

In contrast to the iPhone mini which appeared in very tiny dimensions and was forced to be discontinued because it did not sell well in the market, the Vivo X200 Pro mini was launched and introduced as a competitor to the iPhone 16 Pro, Apple's flagship which has also not been officially launched in Indonesia. With no reduction in aspects from the standard X200, it is the reason why it is called “Pro mini”.

When it first appeared, Vivo immediately compared the new variant to Apple's offering. Carrying a camera that is claimed to be superior, the price of the Vivo X200 Pro mini is much more affordable than the Pro version of the iPhone. Namely starting from IDR 103 million for the 12/256GB variant, which is cheaper than the price of the iPhone 14 which is now being sold for IDR 12 million at iBox Indonesia. So what are the advantages of the Vivo X200 Pro mini?

The Advantages of the Vivo X200 Pro Mini, Embedded with the Exact Same Main Chip & Sensor

Even though it comes in a smaller dimension, the specifications of the vivo X200 Pro mini have quite a lot in common with the most expensive standard Pro version. Starting from the latest Dimensity 9400 chipset from MediaTek, the use of OriginOS 5 which is equipped with many of the latest AI features, to 90W fast charging technology (or 30W wirelessly).

The vivo X200 Pro mini screen also uses an LTPO AMOLED panel, with a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz and a maximum brightness level of 4500 nits. It's just that the surface is designed flat without curves on all four sides, and of course it's smaller at 631 inches. The battery capacity is smaller, but is considered very large for its dimensions. Because it reaches 5700 mAh.

The rear body surface that complements the design of the vivo X200 Pro mini, carries the same large camera module. There are four different color options available, starting from black, white, Titanium Green and Light Pink. They all use frosted glass surfaces, and of course are IP68/9 certified.

What is quite interesting is how Vivo can still embed the Vivo X200 Pro mini camera sensor setup which is considered very powerful. Still carrying the main Sony LYT-818 sensor, a collaboration between Vivo and Sony, ZEISS T* coating which is able to reduce flare for clearer photos, and the new BlueImage algorithm.

vivo promises stable and clear 4K video quality, including at night. However, the official specifications page does not mention recording support up to 8K or 4K 120fps resolution. Meanwhile, for portraits, besides the 85mm option, there is also up to 100mm. Through a 50MP 3x optical zoom periscope sensor that still supports 100x digital zoom and telemacro. Plus a 50MP ultra-wide sensor as the third sensor.

When holding the vivo X200 Pro mini, the tiny flagship does, as its name suggests, feel mini in your hand. The use of four thin screen bezels, as well as a large camera module in a compact body, gives a slim and light impression. When compared to the iPhone 16 Pro, it only differs by about 1mm in height and width, but is much lighter at 187 grams (vs 199 grams on the 16 Pro).

Although it doesn't have 5x optical zoom like the iPhone, the periscope camera on the vivo X200 Pro mini is capable of producing sharper images, both in the equivalent zoom range, including up to 20-30x. Vivo's camera's image enhancement algorithm seems to play a big role here—when a photo is taken, a few seconds of (very short) processing occurs which is able to produce a very good final image.

Interestingly, when it was introduced, Vivo actually informed that the X200 Series line, including the Vivo X200 Pro mini, carries a seamless wireless connection feature with Apple laptops—as if trying to win the hearts of iPhone fans to see the latest alternative from Vivo. Also its Atomic Island feature looks much more functional than Dynamic Island.

Unfortunately, there is still no clear information whether the Vivo X200 Pro mini will be officially available in Indonesia. According to Gizmo friends, does this variant also need to be brought to consumers in Indonesia?
