Beijing, Gizmologi – Vivo has finally officially introduced its latest flagship line, just a few days after one of the chipset manufacturers announced its latest chip. Coming as a successor, the Vivo X200 Pro is the most premium option with the most impressive camera. So what are the differences between the Vivo X200 Pro & X100 Pro which were officially launched in Indonesia a few months ago?

Yes, the Vivo X100 Pro is indeed late in arriving in Indonesia. However, by inviting a number of media including Gizmologi to attend the global launch event, there is hope that its successor can be present sooner. If Gizmo friends really want the best camera capabilities, the differences between the Vivo X200 Pro & X100 Pro are actually quite significant.

During the launch event last night (14/10), Vivo itself compared the Vivo X200 Pro series with the X100 Ultra—the last X100 variant that was released several months ago, but only for certain regions. So it is certain that the differences with the X100 Pro series are even greater. Anything?

Vivo X200 Pro & X100 Pro Exterior Has Many Minor Differences

Before discussing the specifications on paper, it's a good idea to compare the design aspects of the Vivo X200 Pro & X100 Pro. At first glance, they both look similar. Where the rear side is dominated by a very large camera module, thanks to the respective sensor setups which are considered superior in their class.

The design of the Vivo X200 Pro itself has not been completely redesigned. But when you look closer, or place them side by side, there are many small changes that are visible. On the back side, for example. The silver accent outside the camera module is now completely rounded, not thicker at one corner like the X100 Pro.

And if you look closer, the difference between the Vivo X200 Pro & X100 Pro is also in the less text printing – there is no more writing “Xtreme Imagination” on the back as well “Professional Photography” on the top side. Apart from the rear view, the sides are now also made flat, no longer having the more dramatic curves like its predecessor.

Apart from black and white, the vivo X200 Pro also has two different color options. Namely Titanium with a fingerprint-free anti-glare glass surface on the back (the surface is not slippery)!), as well as a blue color option with special accents that is very stylish, but also difficult to photograph clearly because it seems to have an additional transparent layer for a more dramatic depth effect.

In terms of weight, the Vivo X200 Pro & X100 Pro are more or less the same. Even the X200 Pro weighs a little more, around 223 – 228 grams (vs 221 – 225 grams). But the impression when I hold it, it feels lighter. The assumption refers to the weight distribution which is now made more balanced, no longer feeling heavy on the top side of the device like on the X100 Pro.

Even though it has a Titanium color option, the Vivo X200 Pro still uses standard metal material for the sides of the frame. And on the front side, the 3D curves on the left and right sides are now replaced with curves on all four sides, but to a lesser degree. They call it “micro-quad curved display”. It looks more premium, and is more comfortable for swiping gestures from the edge of the screen.

Faster Chipset, Bigger Battery

Moving on to the specifications. Apart from the different glass surfaces, the screen panels of the Vivo X200 Pro & X100 Pro are also different. Even though both are LTPO, Vivo's new flagship already uses the technology “full-range luminance high-frequency” LTPO, which has a longer service life and minimal flickering. Plus, it has a maximum brightness level of up to 4500 nits, and is designed to be more resistant to scratches/drops.

The chipset is certainly different, the latest Dimensity 9400 vs the 9300 released a year ago. In addition to being faster, it is also more power efficient, and is the result of collaboration between Vivo, MediaTek, and Arm, for more optimal camera and AI processing. The main camera sensor is also different, where the X200 Pro uses the Sony LYT-818 1/128 inch. The embedded 200MP telephoto is the same as the X100 Ultra, but the module architecture has been updated.

Combined with the special vivo V3+ chip, this smartphone can produce 4K 120fps video, 4K HDR portrait video, and even portrait photos in 37x magnification, aka 135mm, which has not been available on previous flagships. Due to its release in the country of origin, the Vivo X200 Pro that is present in China uses the latest OriginOS which is enhanced with AI. Including Atomic Island which is vivo's version of Dynamic Island.

In the charging sector, the speed has indeed dropped slightly, from 100W using a cable and 50W wirelessly, to 90W and 30W. However, the Vivo X200 Pro carries a much larger battery capacity at 6,000 mAh, vs 5,400 mAh. Thanks to the development of BlueVolt battery technology which can increase capacity in smaller dimensions.
