Slightly different from the previous generation, this time vivo Indonesia presents the vivo V30 Series in a total of three variants. While the Vivo V30 & V30 Pro were released together, the Vivo V30e was released later. It is a more affordable option, but it also brings its own advantages.

It could be said that the Vivo V30e is here as an alternative to the Vivo smartphone which excels in portrait camera capabilities, carrying the latest Aura Light lighting system. Interestingly, the battery capacity of this smartphone is actually the largest, and can be present in a still thin profile. More suitable for those who lead an active lifestyle.

Despite some simplified specifications, the Vivo V30e is still more attractive than previous offerings. Here is the full review of the Vivo V30e.

Design

vivo V30e

If the V29e is designed to be very firm with flat front, back and side surfaces, the latest generation is designed to be more stylish and premium like the standard version. The vivo V30e's design has evolved bringing curves on the left and right sides, both front and back. Using a glass surface on the back, it comes in two color options, each of which uses a two-tone technique.

The vivo V30e unit that I reviewed was in Giri Merah, inspired by the beauty of the Indonesian land, he said. In my opinion, this color option has its own appeal, striking but not excessive, through special accents and patterns on the right side which are made more reflective. The camera module is also stylish and modern, not too prominent.

The thickness is only around 77mm, it looks even thinner thanks to the curves on both sides. It weighs 188 grams, so it's not the lightest, but it gives a more solid feel in your hand. Most likely thanks to the battery being designed to be larger.

Although stylish, Vivo does not ignore the durability of the Vivo V30e. In addition to the IP64 certification which makes it resistant to dust and water splashes, it also carries Tough Body Armor where a cushioning system is embedded on the outside and inside of the smartphone to make it safer when dropped. It has also gone through a series of tests such as a 1 meter drop test, twist test, sitting pressure test and extreme temperatures.

Screen

Screen vivo V30e

If the previous generation still used a flat screen, this time the Vivo V30e has moved up a class in terms of appearance, because it already carries a 3D curved screen, the same as its older sibling. Besides looking expensive, it also feels thinner, and during use it doesn't bother at all. The 678-inch screen dimension feels large on paper, but is actually still relatively compact in the hand, thanks to the four bezels which are also thin.

The vivo V30e screen has full HD+ resolution with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, supports 1 billion colors and has the full DCI-P3 standard. The high contrast ratio makes the color display look more intense, but Vivo provides a number of presets that can adjust the saturation level, whether you want it to be more accurate or more vivid.

Three certifications from SGS are present to prevent the effects of blue light emissions, flickering, and motion blur. The maximum brightness level of 1300 nits is sufficient for outdoor use. The front glass of the device is also protected by an additional layer of SCHOTT Xensation.

Apart from the embedded in-display fingerprint sensor, what's interesting about the Vivo V30e screen is the Water Wet Display algorithm. Allows you to continue operating applications even when your hands are wet—where the smartphone remains safe thanks to IP64 certification.

Camera

vivo V30e

In my opinion, the previous generation brought a fairly superior camera setup, especially compared to the previous series. And the vivo V30e camera can still bring similar quality, with a number of improvements that make taking photos more enjoyable.

In addition to the 32MP selfie camera on the front, a 50MP Sony IMX882 f/12 main sensor is embedded.79, paired with an 8MP ultra-wide f/20 sensor.2. In my opinion, Vivo is able to optimize the Sony sensor, so that it can produce satisfying image captures in various lighting conditions. Including optimal 2x zoom quality.

Not only in normal mode, the 2x portrait produced by the Vivo V30e camera is also reliable. Especially when paired with the latest Aura Light Portrait lighting, with LED lights that are claimed to be able to provide a 9x larger lighting area, and 45x softer light.

Don't worry if the face area will be too bright, because Aura Light on the vivo V30e can automatically change the color temperature and light intensity according to the distance between the camera and the subject – this system has proven to be optimal, as long as Gizmo friends don't take pictures in a hurry.

If the main sensor is satisfactory, there is a small note on the ultra-wide sensor which sometimes has less accurate color reproduction, and of course you have to activate night mode more often for indoor photos with minimal noise. For the front camera, it remains high quality, even though the autofocus from the previous generation has been removed.

Gizmo friends can access the complete photo results from the Vivo V30e camera via the following album.

For video recording, the Vivo V30e supports resolutions up to 4K 30fps and 1080p 60fps. Unfortunately, both options still produce less stable videos—EIS can only be activated at 1080p 30fps resolution, and only applies to the rear camera.

This factor makes the Vivo V30e less suitable for vlogging using its selfie camera, which can actually produce quality footage, but it's not stable. So if you want to record optimal video, just use both rear camera sensors, especially the main sensor which is the most reliable.

Feature

Released in 2024, of course the Vivo V30e will run Android 14 with the Funtouch OS 14 interface. The UI on the smartphone is similar to Vivo's previous releases. I personally think it's starting to get boring, but it's easy to use, has minimal (or no) ads, and is close to pure Android with lots of customization built in.

NFC Multifunction? Of course it's already present. Gaming Mode to face beautification options during video calls can also be found in the Settings menu. Make sure you choose a variant with the appropriate memory capacity, because the card slot on the Vivo V30e is a hybrid type.

The one small deficiency that I felt was in the audio sector, where the speaker setup was still mono with just okay quality. There is an Audio Booster option of up to 200% to make it louder but at the expense of quality. Meanwhile, the vibration motor also cannot provide a precise vibration effect that is comfortable to activate when typing on the screen.

Performance

Skor Antutu vivo V30e

At first I was a little pessimistic about this part—by numbers and naming, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 felt like a chip that prioritized power efficiency, since it was already using 4nm fabrication. vivo pairs it with up to 8+8GB of RAM, as well as up to 256GB of internal storage. Meanwhile, in terms of operating systems, internal lab test results provide a guarantee of smooth performance for up to 50 months.

After using it as a daily driver, the impression I got was not much different from all-rounder smartphones in its class, even the more expensive ones like the realme 12 Pro+ 5G with Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. It is relatively smooth and fluid, only sometimes there is a stutter or short lag when there is too much application access, or a heavier type.

For daily use it is still very reliable. I also salute the body temperature of the Vivo V30e which is relatively stable, it rarely feels hot, only slightly warm. Shows the optimal cooling system to reduce heat inside. Likewise, when used for playing games, the Vivo V30e can handle many popular titles, as long as you don't expect to be able to use right-aligned graphic settings for only a few titles.

Battery

80W FlashCharge

More solid than the more expensive variants, the battery capacity of the vivo V30e is the largest in the current vivo V Series. Yes, even though it is thin and still relatively light, it has managed to embed a 5,500 mAh battery, which is an increase of around 15% compared to the previous generation. And of course, this provides excellent benefits.

Whether used for multitasking, activating hotspots, or taking photos intensively, it is difficult to drain the power of the Vivo V30e in just 24 hours. More casual use can of course easily last up to 2 days. The battery reliability is also promised to remain excellent for up to 4 years of use.

Charging the vivo V30e battery can happen quite quickly thanks to 44W FlashCharge technology. From about 5% to 50% it takes a little over 30 minutes, while to reach full it takes about 75 minutes. When away from a power source, Super Battery Saver mode is present to make the smartphone usable for longer, even if the battery percentage is close to zero.

Conclusion

Unboxing vivo V30e

With various specification adjustments, the Vivo V30e is present as a stylish Rp 4 million smartphone that provides a more satisfying all-rounder impression. Not only does it excel in design, its performance is now more reliable, paired with a larger battery, with a camera that is also satisfying, especially for portrait photos.

Of course, because it is not a flagship, it cannot be perfect in all aspects of the specifications, where the Vivo V30e only carries a mono speaker, carries a camera without OIS, or a charging speed that is not the fastest in its class. It could be a minor flaw, or it could be a major deciding factor. It all comes back to the needs of each of Gizmo's friends, okay.
