Every year, OPPO updates the offerings of its mid-range smartphone line, namely the Reno Series, at least twice. After six months since Reno 11 was launched, including in Indonesia, it’s now time for them to release a teaser for the new generation. This time the OPPO Reno 12 Series design has finally been revealed with an initial launch date.

OPPO Indonesia is proud to introduce the spectacular Reno 11 Series this year, featuring three stunning variants. The Reno 11 and 11 Pro were launched a few months ago, and the more affordable Reno 11 F was released more recently. However, it still managed to attract attention, because it brought the OPPO AI feature, while also collaborating with BSS Seventeen as its brand ambassador.

OPPO AI will continue to be “sold” by this company from China to attract consumers, and this term is also included in the device sales teaser poster, which also displays the design of the OPPO Reno 12. It looks very different, but also familiar.

The camera module design is similar to the previous Reno

OPPO Reno 12 Series design

The design of the OPPO Reno 12 Series is completely different from the previous generation, as shown in the image above. In the camera module, there are three camera sensors arranged in parallel with a flash next to them. You could say it’s more mainstream.

However, the design of the OPPO Reno 12 this time also reminds us of the previous Reno 4, whose camera module design was also similar. Inside the camera module you can also see the printed text “AI Camera System”, where OPPO is ready to embed new AI features in its camera system. What is also very different is the rear body pattern, which is quite uniquely designed.

As in the official teaser video above, it can be seen that the OPPO Reno 12 Series design is supported by an attractive new back cover pattern, which looks like it can display certain curves when exposed to light. Both the Reno 12 & Reno 12 Pro appear identical, at least from the back and sides.

What about the specifications? It is reported that the standard Reno 12 will have a 6.7 inch wide screen on an OLED panel, and will have three 50MP sensors each for the front camera, main camera and 2x zoom telephoto camera, plus 8MP ultra-wide angle. While the standard version runs the Dimensity 8250 chip, the Pro version is faster with the upgraded version of the Dimensity 9200. Both have a 5000 mAh battery with 80W fast charging.

Apart from the official OPPO party, well-known information leaker, Evan Blass, via his personal X account, also uploaded a complete design image of the OPPO Reno 12 Series, with all color variants and from all sides. Each variant will be available in three different colors, with the rear body surface also having a different pattern.

It can be seen that the front appearance of the OPPO Reno 12 Series design is dominated by a large screen with very thin screen bezels, including the bottom. On the top side, you can see a punch-hole camera setup, as well as a wide earpiece hole—hopefully this indicates the presence of a stereo speaker setup, OK?

On the bottom side, there is a SIM card slot, microphone, USB-C port and speaker hole. Meanwhile, the top side is only filled with a secondary microphone and an additional black mark which is generally an infrared sensor. This indicates that the Reno 12 Series can be used as a home electronic control device. Only the Pro variant has an additional hole for secondary speaker output.
