Jakarta, Gizmology – Now that we’re free from the pandemic, it’s time to move on. One of them is with internet quota that makes the heart more free.

The global outbreak of COVID-19 transmission in 2020 has forced everyone to stay indoors. This is done to break the chain of transmission.

As a result, new habits were adopted. Among them, the practice of remote work aka work from home (WFH) is increasingly encouraged which makes online activities increase.

With this condition, telecommunication operators in Indonesia are competing to pamper their customers with various quota packages that can accommodate all their needs while at home. The reason is that online activities are not solely for work, but also entertainment such as watching movies on streaming platforms and also gaming.

Now, after undergoing an endemic period, does customer privilege remain the same? Thankfully, yes. Smartfren is one of the telecommunications operators that is fairly generous in presenting affordable internet packages with abundant quota.

To celebrate the 78th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, Smartfren launched a new prepaid data package with 100 GB quota for Rp100,000. This is arguably the most competitive offer among several telecommunications operators with the same quota or price.

Andrijanto Muljono, Chief Commercial Officer of Smartfren said that the package called Kuota 100 GB is presented as a form of appreciation from Smartfren for young people in Indonesia.

“We want to ignite the spirit of work and achievement by utilizing digital technology,” he said at the time.

What You Can Do with 100 GB Quota?

With the 100 GB Quota package presented by Smartfren, it is certainly not an exaggeration if this is independence itself for internet users in Indonesia. There will be many things that can be done with an abundant internet quota like this.

Berdasarkan data OpenSignal pada akhir 2022, pengguna internet di Indonesia di lima operator telekomunikasi nasional rata-rata menghabiskan antara 14,6 hingga 17,7 GB data internet setiap bulannya.

Meanwhile, based on a survey by Katadata Insight Center (KIC) and Kominfo, the majority of internet quota spending in Indonesia is in the range of IDR 50 thousand to IDR 100 thousand with a percentage reaching 62% in 2022. This figure even tends to increase compared to previous years, where in 2021 it was 583% and 2020 it was 544%.

So the 100 GB Quota package with a price of Rp100 thousand can certainly target the right market share, where the need for internet quota and its purchasing power is very suitable for the needs of the majority of people in Indonesia.

Then, what exactly can be done with 100 GB Quota? Of course, it depends on the activities done with the internet.

Namun, jika mengacu pada laporan yang dikutip Gizmologi dari TalkHome, kuota internet sebesar 100 GB bisa dihabiskan untuk browsing, mengunduh, hingga streaming hal berikut:

  • 60.000 web page access
  • 1.200 hours browsing the web
  • 35.000.000 emails and SMS
  • 200.000 emails with attachments
  • 20.000 music
  • 200 hours of SD quality video
  • 50 hours of HD quality video
  • 3.000 hours of voice calls
  • 400 hours of video calls
  • 2.500 applications

From the report, it can certainly be illustrated how many creative things can be done with 100 GB internet quota. Internet users can do it anytime and anywhere online.

Moreover, currently Smartfren already has 43.000 BTS covering around 226 cities. This increase is indeed massive, considering that when Smartfren first arrived, it only had 600 BTS and its coverage was only limited to 4 cities.

Of course, we also hope that Smartfren will continue to expand its internet coverage to the whole of Indonesia. That way, more and more Indonesians will experience the freedom of affordable internet with a large quota.
