One of the most favorite streaming platforms, Netflix has implemented a new rule so that users cannot share accounts or passwords. It has been implemented since last year, now the regulation is ready to be implemented in a number of countries in Asia. Indonesia soon followed suit, and users who were “nebeng” had to be prepared to create their own account.

This information was conveyed by the official Netflix in a statement published yesterday (20/7), marking India as one of the countries that finally received this new regulation. When it was first implemented in a number of countries in the United States last year, Netflix had lost one million paying subscribers at the end of the second quarter of last year.

Interestingly, in the same quarter this year, Netflix said it had managed to reach nearly 6 million new paying subscribers, after the enactment of regulations that those who share passwords must have or create an account alias subscribe individually. For users who live in the same location, additional profile options can still be implemented.

Netflix Will Announce New Regulations Via Email

Through an official release, Netflix will send an email to all users in India who share their accounts with other people outside the same household – it is possible that users in Indonesia will also receive the same email. The email will contain information if in fact a Netflix account is only created for one residence.

Even so, Netflix provides a guarantee that families or those who live together can still use the account while traveling or on vacation, it is said to take advantage of the IP and device ID of the device used. Account owners will also be able to find out what devices can access it, as well as a new “Transfer Profile” option.

The profile transfer feature can later be used for friends and other people who have to create a new account thanks to Netflix’s latest regulations, so they can still have appropriate progress and recommendations on their new account.

If in the United States there is an option to increase access for a fee, this option will not be present in Indonesia. Netflix considers that a number of countries such as Indonesia, Croatia, Kenya and India have received better subscription price options. In addition to market penetration which is still considered lower.

As such, Gizmo friends, who until recently have shared accounts with other people in different residences, should be prepared to take advantage of the profile transfer feature and create separate accounts for an individual subscription fee. If you really want to be able to access exclusive movies and series, of course.

Last February, the subscription fee for this streaming platform has just lowered the subscription fee for a number of certain packages. Like the Basic package, which drops from IDR 120,000 to only IDR 65,000, or the Standard package from IDR 153,000 to IDR 120,000 for the option of watching from two different devices.

Meanwhile, the most affordable rate is still the Mobile package at IDR 54,000. With a price difference of IDR 11,000 that is more affordable, users are limited to only being able to access it from smartphone devices, aka not from large screens such as smart TVs.
