Bangkok, Gizmologi – Every year, Huawei has a flagship event in the ICT industry entitled Huawei Connect. If last year it was held online because it was still in a pandemic atmosphere, this year Huawei Connect 2022 was held offline by taking place in Bangkok, Thailand.

Around 5,000 participants from various countries gathered in this city which is one of Southeast Asia’s digital technology centers. Gizmology had the opportunity to witness firsthand the various innovations presented at the Huawei Connect 2022 event.

Taking the theme “Unleash Digital”, Huawei Connect 2022 is officially opened starting today (19/9). Held for 3 days, Huawei launched several ICT products, portfolios and solutions designed to meet the needs of various industry scenarios.

Bangkok itself is the opening city as part of the Huawei Connect 2022 global tour series. Furthermore, this event will visit leading cities from various continents, namely Dubai, Paris, and the location of the last event, Shenzhen, China.

In his remarks, Ken Hu, Huawei’s Rotating Chairman, highlighted the unstable GDP growth over the past two years. However, the digital economy has seen consistent growth on a global scale, i.e. more than 15% by 2021. This has prompted many organizations to transform their service offerings and operations with next-generation digital technologies.

“Going digital is definitely the right choice. The demand is there, and so is the technology. The world is increasingly optimizing digital productivity, and this is exactly what is happening now,” said Hu.

Therefore, he emphasized that there are three ways that the ICT ecosystem can help address the main obstacles in implementing digital transformation.

“First, improving digital infrastructure, including increasing connectivity and computing resources that are stronger and more diverse,” he said.

Next, the second step is to help organizations go beyond simple cloud adoption. Take full advantage of the cloud, and focus on advanced technology services that can drive big leaps in development.

“Finally, building a local digital ecosystem, including partner development, strengthening the digital talent pool, and providing more support for SMEs,” he added.

As mentioned above, the Huawei Connect 2022 event discusses the latest technologies. These include cloud computing, AI, and 5G, as well as gaining practical experience with experts at the event location.

This event invites ICT industry players, experts and partners from all over the world. From Indonesia alone, there were about 400 participants who were invited to Bangkok. Together, they explore how to optimize digital productivity more effectively, encourage the strengthening of the digital economy, and build a stronger digital ecosystem.

At the event, Huawei presented strategic steps that could be considered to advance digital development in various industries, and released more than 15 innovative cloud services for the global market.

Through this event, Huawei also strengthened its commitment to open collaboration and build mutual success. Huawei calls on governments and companies to work more closely together to develop a local digital ecosystem capable of building innovation partners, strengthening programs that can increase the number of people, and providing support to startups.

In his remarks, Simon Lin, President of Huawei Asia-Pacific Region, launched the Digital First Economy white paper which digs deeper into various suggestions and policies targeted for digital infrastructure development and digital economy development in the Asia-Pacific region.

“The Asia-Pacific region stands at the forefront of the global digital landscape. Huawei is committed to being a major contributor to the digital economy in the region. We will continue to support digitalization and sustainable development efforts, as well as build an industrial ecosystem,” said Lin.

During the event, government representatives from the Asia-Pacific region also appeared and shared their progress and shared experiences in advancing digital economic development in their respective countries, including Supattanapong Punmeechaow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Thailand; Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, Minister of Economy and Digital Society of the Kingdom of Thailand; Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia; Muhammad Abdul Mannan, Bangladesh Minister of Planning; David Almirol, Undersecretary of E-Government, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Philippines; and Dr Aladdin D. Rillo, Senior Economic Advisor for the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA).

The three-day conference features two main sessions, six summits, as well as several breakout and demo sessions. This year’s event dives into the various challenges governments and enterprises face in the stages of their digital transformation journey, Huawei’s advances in digital infrastructure, and the latest cloud services and enterprise ecosystem partner solutions.
