Jakarta, Gizmologi – Telkomsel is getting serious about developing a digital ecosystem. One of the steps is to rebrand PT Telkomsel Ekosistem Digital to INDICO. Even though as a subsidiary, Telkomsel INDICO is positioned as a holding company for vertical businesses in the Telkomsel digital sector.

Hendri Mulya Syam, President Director of Telkomsel, in his remarks said, the company wants to maximize INDICO in developing its vertical business penetration to create digital innovations that have an impact on the digital economy through the support of Telkomsel’s asset and business ecosystem.

“We also hope that the new corporate brand identity will further strengthen Telkomsel’s commitment to the transformation roadmap as part of the leading state-owned company in Indonesia, the TelkomGroup, by making INDICO a digital ecosystem powerhouse in the growth of an inclusive national digital economy,” he said when introducing Telkomsel Indico virtually. The launch event was also attended by the Minister of SOEs Indonesia, Erick Thohir. He said he would monitor the development of Telkomsel Indico (Indonesia Digital Ecosystem) which wants to accelerate the opening of more opportunities and ease of innovation in the use of the latest digital technology.

In his virtual speech, Erick wanted Telkomsel Indico to be able to provide real work to help Indonesia become the country with the largest digital economy power in the world. Where Indonesia is predicted to become the 4th largest digital economy power in the world by 2025.

Erick said he saw an extraordinary transformation of Telkomsel. Because in this era of transformation, we must not continue to be complacent with the existing conditions considering that change is always happening. Telkomsel dares to step on the gas by launching INDICO as an aggregator and market access company for local creators.

“INDICO can build an ecosystem that is expected to have an impact on the growth of the national digital economy. Therefore, Telkomsel INDICO must become a big aggregator for Indonesia’s version of digital economic growth,” said Erick.

According to him, as a big nation, we must have an ecosystem and roadmap alone. We have to make sure this ecosystem wins, so we need innovation and transformation. “I hope that with this launch, there will be many breakthroughs presented by INDICO, not just discourse but concrete,” he added.

The introduction of Telkomsel INDICO is an effort to strengthen the company’s identity as a driver of change that will encourage the presence of more innovative digital services. INDICO will also accelerate the birth of a variety of potential dedicated digital talents who will prioritize collaboration with startups across sectors of the country, investors, and other stakeholders in the digital industry, which is expected to have a significant impact in strengthening the nation’s digital economy.

Andi Kristianto, CEO of INDICO added, Telkomsel INDICO is here to create a flywheel effect of innovation in developing cross-sector digital solutions through the use of Telkomsel’s assets and capabilities. “We are trying to explore various potentials that can contribute to the growth of the national digital economy, and make Indonesia a bridge for digital solutions to a global scale, in Southeast Asia,” he added.

The choice of Telkomsel INDICO as the commercial name was motivated by the company’s ambition to create a digital ecosystem by promoting the spirit of collaboration that empowers everyone. This empowerment is expected to be able to open up more opportunities to accelerate progress in various aspects of life.

In carrying out business operations, Telkomsel INDICO focuses on developing customer-oriented cross-sector solutions and services through technological innovations that can facilitate people in accelerating their digital lifestyle.

In the first wave development stage, INDICO will focus on developing three priority digital industry sectors, namely health (health-tech), education (Edu-tech), and gaming which are considered to have great potential to encourage the national digital economy. In addition to these three sectors, INDICO also opens opportunities to expand its vertical business portfolio to more other industrial sectors as the market develops and opens up opportunities for collaboration in an effort to develop the national digital economy.

The health-tech and Edu-tech sectors are the two main sectors that have been developed by INDICO, along with the merger of the management of the Kuncie and Fita application businesses. INDICO has also recently made developments in the gaming sector through the establishment of Majamojo, a joint venture (JV) company with PT Applications Multimedia Anak Bangsa owned by the GoTo Group, with a business focus as a game publisher.
