Jakarta, Gizmologi – One of the video cameras most recognized for their success is the Lumix GH5 series, aka a camera with a relatively more compact Micro Four Thirds (MFT) sensor. Last year, this vendor only had time to inaugurate the Mark II version, and now finally officially released the Lumix GH6.

The presence of the Panasonic Lumix GH6 itself is according to plan, considering it was mentioned last year when the GH5 Mark II version was unveiled. Through a longer development time, Panasonic can present a number of the latest innovations that make it have better video capabilities than previous generations. One of them thanks to the largest new sensor.

In terms of the exterior itself, the Lumix GH6 looks identical to the previous generation. Most of the improvements brought are in the innards, aka supporting hardware. On the back, it still uses a 3-inch free-angle screen with the 1,840K-dot resolution, 3:2 ratio, and touches input support. This screen is designed so as not to interfere when the user is plugging the HDMI into a USB cable.

Lumix GH6 Relies on New Sensors & Processors

Panasonic Lumix GH6

As previously mentioned, the Lumix GH6 series comes with the first over 20MP sensor in the MFT camera. More precisely, it reaches 25.2MP, with 20% more pixels. In addition to the new sensor, the latest Venus Engine processor is also used which has two times faster performance.

The performance of the processor has a role to process more data from the sensor, so it can provide various benefits such as a wider dynamic range, more natural noise texture plus better color reproduction, both in photos and videos. The ISO range now extends from ISO 50, to 12,800 in video and 25,600 in photo mode.

Inside the Lumix GH6 camera body, Panasonic also embeds a new 5-axis gyro sensor with a new algorithm, which is claimed to provide stabilization up to 7.5 stops and allows the use of 100MP mode without a tripod—as long as you use the sensor with image stabilization. But what is a little lacking is the autofocus system, which is still quite standard.

Instead of using phase-detection autofocus like a modern camera, the Lumix GH6 still relies on contrast-based autofocus. The reason? Because when starting the development of this camera, Panasonic had to choose between changing the focus system or focusing to increase dynamic range capabilities. The second option was chosen by Panasonic while increasing focus speed through the new processor.

Equipped Cooling System For Flexible Video Recording

With the help of the Venus Engine, this camera is claimed to be able to dramatically improve precision focus capabilities, including subject recognition in the frame. The Lumix GH6 also now supports V-Log and V-Gamut formats when recording video, providing a wider dynamic range of up to 13 stops. Its 5-aixs stabilization is also capable of recognizing three main types of shocks; panning, tilting to hand shake.

This latest Panasonic camera can record video in 4:2:2 10-bit C4K 60p format without a time limit. This is possible thanks to the use of a new cooling system, consisting of a more optimized cooling path and a fan. Besides being able to lower the temperature to 10 degrees Celsius, it can also help reduce water splashes to dust when used in outdoor conditions.

There are two memory card slots, each is a CFexpress Type B and UHS-II SD card slot. The 2,200 mAh battery inside can be recharged via the USB port, and of course,Pras there are connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5. The price? Starting at USD 2,199 (Rp 31 million), and will be available globally in mid-March 2022.
