Jakarta, Gizmologi – Talking about smartwatches that are more devoted to sports or outdoor activities, of course you will immediately think of this one brand. Yes, who else if not Garmin, through its extensive line of wearables with varied prices. In February 2022, the second generation of the Garmin Fenix 7 & Epix series was unveiled.

Both are arguably included in the flagship category from Garmin, have lots of sports features, are made of the best materials, plus complete sensors that help record navigation. The presence of the Garmin Fenix 7 & Epix itself is in line with the increasing trend of outdoor sports—with data obtained directly by Garmin users in Indonesia.

In general, the trend increases to 24%, where the highest activity growth is in several types of sports such as cycling, hiking and others. Even activities such as rowing board to rock climbing can increase by more than 100%. And from the results of the Q3 2021 financial statements, there is an increase of 26% for the series with GPS that is suitable for outdoor.

The Fenix series itself was first launched in 2012. Scoppen Lin, Assistant General Manager of Garmin Asia said, “We have designed the best outdoor smartwatch with enhanced safety, health and fitness features to support seamless travel through this launch of the Garmin Fenix 7 & Epix series.”

Garmin Fenix 7 Series Available with Solar Panel

So the most expensive series of the two, the Garmin Fenix 7 comes in different size and material options. Namely the Fenix 7S at 42mm with a 1.2” screen, the Fenix 7 at 47mm (1.3”) and the Fenix 7X being the largest with a diameter of 51mm (1.4”). All of them are available in Sapphire Solar variant options, aka solar charging.

The body material itself consists of a mixture of titanium and sapphire glass protection, and all three Garmin Fenix 7 variants both have a memory-in-pixel (MIP) touch screen, which means they don’t consume power while there is no display change. The screen can also be controlled via five shortcut keys around it.

The excellent feature on the Garmin Fenix 7 apart from the solar panel is the built-in LED flash, aka a flashlight, intended to make it easier for runners during night sports or climbing processes. Also standard location sensors such as GPS, GNSS and GLONASS for high accuracy—users can even download special maps for climbing or skiing sessions.

Of course, other health features are also available, such as checking heart rate, SpO2 levels, stress levels, breathing to sleep quality. Garmin Fenix 7 has a standard 10 ATM alias can be used in water up to a depth of 10 meters, plus 16/32GB storage and NFC sensor.

Garmin Epix Has a Superior Screen

Garmin Epix

For urbanites who have a higher activity, Garmin Epix can be the best alternative. This smartwatch combines modern technology such as the use of AMOLED screens with a long service life, which claims up to 16 days of standard use. It only comes in one size, which is 45mm with a 1.3” screen and stainless or titanium material.

Just like the Garmin Fenix 7, this latest Epix series also supports a complete GPS sensor, plus MIL-STD-810 certification aka military standards. The device uses multi-band frequencies to maintain optimum level of accuracy and positioning speed in challenging areas. Such as in the city center or areas with many tall buildings. Features such as flashlights and solar charging are not yet available for this series.

Want to buy one of these two new Garmin smartwatch series? All options are available starting today through the Garmin Brand Store offline store network and the Garmin Official Store in e-commerce. The Garmin Fenix 7 Series is priced from Rp. 11 million to Rp. 20 million, while the Epix series is in the range of IDR 14,9 million to IDR 16,6 million.
