Huawei Launched ASEAN Academy Engineering Institute in Indonesia, the Largest in the Asia-Pacific

Huawei ASEAN Academy (Indonesia) Engineering Institute commenced its program in Indonesia. The academy will take place in Jakarta and cover almost 2 hectares of space which serves as the largest, most comprehensive ICT training and certifications centers of the many Huawei Academy establishments in Asia Pacific.

Jacky Chen, CEO Huawei Indonesia who also serves as the President of Huawei ASEAN Academy said that the establishment of Huawei ASEAN Academy Engineering Institute in Indonesia affirms Huawei Indonesia’s commitment to help nurturing Indonesian ICT talents and accelerate the digital transformation in the country which vision is to become top 5 global economic powerhouses in 2045.

He said, the availability of highly competent ICT talents is essential to help realize the country vision and increase its global competence. Meanwhile, there is currently a discrepancy between the number of supply and demand in ICT talents.

“For this reason, over Huawei’s 20-year presence in Indonesia, the joint efforts we hold together with government, academia, and communities to develop the competence of ICT talents always take first precedence. We are committed to keep strengthening that commitment through the Huawei ASEAN Academy in Indonesia. Our target is to develop the competence of 100 thousand digital talents in Indonesia over the next five years through a multiple-helix synergy model with various parties,” said Jacky.

To realize these visions, the Huawei ASEAN Academy in Indonesia is made up of business, technical, and engineering colleges and supported by well over 100 trainers, over 3 thousand courses or trainings, over 100 mirroring environments. It also features laboratories, classrooms, training centers, and facilities where one can learn to install hardware and to do on-site jobs.

The Business College program is aimed for trainees from government ministries, regulators, carriers and enterprise managers to help them grasp multi-disciplinary materials that consist of today’s industry trends, best practices, and Huawei management philosophy. The college will help managers or their peers of the same level in the respective companies to comprehend the dynamics in the ICT industry, improve their leadership, and provide support for the appropriate business & policy decision-making.

The Technical College program will provide the trainee with comprehensive offerings that include ICT Technical Training, Huawei Certification, ICT Competition, Seed for the Future, HMS Developer Competition, Excellent College Students Internship, Developer Contest (HMS, Cloud & AI), and 5G+AI Ecosystem Innovation Training Camp. This college is targeted for carrier and enterprise engineers, college students, ICT practitioners, and ecosystem partners.

Meanwhile, the Engineering College program will provide an opportunity for trainees from subcontractors and vocational school students to improve their practical skills so as to increase the employment rate and personnel efficiency.

YangDongHai, Dean of Huawei ASEAN Academy (Indonesia) Engineering Institute explained that in order to carry out the scenario-based training and certification guide hardware installation skill improvement to the trainees, Huawei ASEAN Academy (Indonesia) Engineering Institute will be equipped with industry leading technology covering more than 20 scenarios of multiple products, such as wireless and microwave network construction, upgrade, migration, dismantling, redeploy, FTTx, and optical network datacom.

In addition to delivering theory in class to the trainees, the Huawei ASEAN Academy (Indonesia) Engineering Institute will provide an opportunity to them for practical on-site works, certifications and exams. It also adopts the modular and reusable training field design, supporting training for 80 persons at the same time. It is estimated that 1500 to 2000 ICT talents training and certification program can be completed each year,” added Yangdonghai.
