Slowly but surely, voice telephone service in Indonesia will move to VoLTE (Voice over LTE). For four years, Smartfren walked alone. Then since last May 2020, Telkomsel rolled out VoLTE to be continued in August. Today, Indosat Ooredoo’s VoLTE service is officially launched.

As the last among its two main competitors, Indosat VoLTE service is immediately available in 30 cities. As a comparison, Telkomsel when it was released was only available in Jadetabek and Surabaya. Then expanded to the Bogor and Sidoarjo areas. Meanwhile, XL VoLTE service is only available in Jakarta and Medan. However, when we visited Indosat’s VoLTE web page, for now, only Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya.

Customers who are currently in Indosat Ooredoo’s VoLTE coverage city, can use a cellphone that supports VoLTE services and have used a 4G SIM card, can immediately enjoy VoLTE services without the need to register for certain packages or additional applications.

Ritesh Kumar Singh, Chief Marketing Officer of Indosat Ooredoo, said that the company will continue to innovate to provide the best digital experience for customers, this time by launching Indosat Ooredoo’s VoLTE service.

“The ease of enjoying this service will make chatting more enjoyable, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when people are asked to stay at home and keep their distance. We hope that this service will help Indonesians adopt new habits more quickly and maintain their common health, “said Ritesh in a press release received. Gizmologi in Jakarta (28/9).

The advantages of Indosat Ooredoo’s VoLTE Service

Indosat’s Voice over LTE or VoLTE is a service that allows us to make voice calls on a 4G-LTE based network for IM3 customers. By using VoLTE technology, customers will be able to experience calls with clearer voice with “HD voice” quality.

In addition, with this VoLTE service, telephones can be connected faster than the traditional telephone services we know as circuit-switches and customers can switch from voice calls to video calls or vice versa very easily without having to hang up first.

Another interesting thing that can be felt with this VoLTE technology, customers can also do other activities such as surfing, streaming or playing online games without dropping out when there is an incoming call.

Indosat also ensures that there are no impromptu tariffs. Users can directly connect to Indosat’s VoLTE service at no additional cost. Customers will only be charged with the existing retail voice tariff or the Obrol Package.

Collaboration with Smartphone Manufacturers that Support Indosat VoLTE

At the launch of this VoLTE service, Indosat Ooredoo collaborated with smartphone manufacturers such as Huawei, Oppo, Samsung, Vivo, Xiaomi, and manufacture chipsets such as Qualcomm and MediaTek. This joint collaboration aims to ensure devices that support VoLTE technology can work properly.

To enjoy Indosat Ooredoo’s VoLTE service, customers only need to make sure to use a 4G handset that supports VoLTE service, is within Indosat Ooredoo’s VoLTE range, and uses a SIM card that supports VoLTE.
