Smartphone competition in the photography sector continues to emerge. This time, Madhav Seth, Realme CEO has just announced it on Twitter that the brand is working on a new ‘premium killer’ smartphone, and it will be the world’s first smartphone to feature a 64MP camera.

Realme is a newcomer in smartphone industries, and it has garnered massive success in India in a span just one year, which is not an easy thing to achieve nowadays. They managed to compete with companies such as Xiaomi and Samsung that have reigned supreme in budget and mid-range segments, by offering some exceptional phones that have a great design and great hardware at disruptive prices. If last year is about getting the company’s name out there, 2019 looks to be about taking charge.

Working on the new premium killer! Introducing world's first smartphone camera with 64MP GW1 largest 1/1.72” sensor and mega 1.6µm pixel with amazing clear shots in low light too. RT if you want to see more “knockout” shots. #DareToLeap pic.twitter.com/D54xNFdaVm

Madhav has revealed that the 64MP unit is the ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor from Samsung, which made its debut last month. ISOCELL Bright GW1 is the spiritual successor to last year’s GM1, which comes with the patented Terracell technology and demosaic algorithm.

The Samsung GW1 sensor Is currently the largest camera sensor available for smartphone, with a sensor size of 1/1.72-inches. In case of low light photography, the 64MP camera can capture ‘amazing clear shots in low light’. Madhav also posted a sample image captured with the new 64MP camera smartphone. The sample image has a ‘64MP AI Quad Camera’ watermark on it, it means that the smartphone will have the quad camera set up assisted by an AI.

According to Madhav, India will be the first market to get this 64MP camera smartphone. It is officially ensured that the phone should initially be launched at India in Q4 this year.

What else do we know about this Smartphone?

Unfortunately, there’s no other information about this upcoming 64MP camera smartphone from Realme, apart from what Madhav revealed above, we don’t even know the name of this smartphone. Considering that it called ‘premium killer’ smartphone, it could also be a flagship device for Realme.
