According to Media Partners Asia data, fixed broadband penetration in 2016 reaches 9.1% and is expected to reach 10.7% by the end of 2017. While wireless broadband penetration reaches 34% by 2016 and is expected to reach 41% by the end of 2017. In Indonesia itself, the penetration of both industries is still below Southeast Asia in general. Nevertheless, First Media and Bolt see growth potential for OTT (over the top) services,  so they work together with HOOQ.

The collaboration provides an opportunity for First Media & BOLT customers to enjoy on-demand entertainment through HOOQ applications that include streaming video, local movie downloads and international blockbusters and TV series.

According to Meena Kumari Adnani, Executive Vice President (EVP) of Content Development and Business Affairs of PT First Media Tbk, this strategic partnership with HOOQ will provide an opportunity to enjoy the variety of content that HOOQ offers on demand, on large screens via interactive set-top-boxes, on the go, in their gadget whenever and wherever. “Coupled with TV Anywhere service, FirstMediaX which will provide thorough content entertainment for our customers,” said Meena, during a press conference in Senayan City, Jakarta (19/09/2017).

Billy Abe, Chief Product Officer of BOLT, said that by providing customers with the ability to consume high-quality content from HOOQ using BOLT service, it is working to deliver the best streaming video experience at an affordable price through the 4G LTE network.

In line with Meena and Bily Abe, Country Manager of HOOQ Indonesia Guntur S. Siboro said it believes that through this cooperation will provide added value, especially for the experience of enjoying better OTT services. “First Media and BOLT customers can enjoy the best variety of video content from HOOQ, with over 20,000 titles consisting of local and local popular TV series and original HOOQ productions,” said Guntur S. Siboro.

Starting in October 2017, all First Media customers can enjoy HOOQ for free for two months. After that, HOOQ can be accessed via set-top-box and then FirstMediaX. Likewise all BOLT customers from prepaid with a minimum package of Rp 99.000 and postpaid (Regular and Unlimited) can also enjoy HOOQ service for free starting in October 2017. For other BOLT subscribers can subscribe HOOQ via BOLT at normal cost.
