Innovation is the keyword for technology companies to continue to survive. Especially if they want to be a pioneer, not just a trend imitators. This is also what Vivo wants to strive, which is better known for selfie smartphone features as presented by Oppo smartphones. Vivo technology being developed is introduced in the arena of Mobile World Congress Shanghai (MWC Shanghai) 2017.

In the event, Vivo introduced some innovations for smartphones. But at least, there are three of the most attention including Vivo Under Display Fingerprint Scanning Solution, Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Photography Solution for shooting that involves backlighting and night scene and Hi-Fi solution with DAC decoding chip Adjusted.

Let’s see what kind of Vivo technology will be applied in the smartphone production later.

Vivo Technology in Smartphone

1. Under Display Fingerprint Scanning Solution technology

Vivo Under Display Fingerprint Scanning Solution (Vivo Under Display) embodies fingerprint scanning on the phone screen. Although under-display fingerprint technology will soon be released, only this time there is a mobile phone manufacturer who will demonstrate.

In Vivo’s research and development (R & D) plan, the fingerprint scanning tool will not be performed by a particular button or part of the phone separately. But blend with the screen so it is not visible. The position of the fingerprint sensor is behind the metal plate, or even in the framework of the phone (frame).

According to engineers who develop, Vivo Under Display technology becomes a keyless fingerprint unlocking solution based on Qualcomm Fingerprint Sensors. There is an ultrasound that comes from the sensor and can penetrate the 1.2mm thick OLED screen so that it can recognize the fingerprint. Compared to the fingerprint recognition technology with the optical lens commonly encountered in the cellular industry, Vivo Under Display has many advantages in waterproofing and anti-ambient light features.

This technology does not require physical buttons for the fingerprint sensor, so it can deliver a real full-screen display as well as a unibody integrated frame and a waterproof mechanical design. This will promote innovative design in the sophisticated mobile display. Based on ultrasonic technology, the fingerprint recognition tool can achieve further user interaction, such as gesture recognition, security verification, and other features.

2. Independent DSP Photography Solution for Photography

In the daily practice of shooting with mobile phones, users can experience a variety of complex lighting conditions. To improve the quality of photos in a variety of difficult lighting conditions, such as low-light conditions and the environment with backlight, Vivo introduced the DSP Photography Solution.

Vivo DSP Photography Solution technology is designed to help users capture high quality and accurate exposure. And set the level of brightness (brightness) of the photo to be more in line with the eyesight of the real man. The speed of photo processing has also improved considerably.

In theory, the technology will allow the phone to produce various RAW images quickly when shooting in complex lighting conditions. DSP chips will automatically process images and produce single RAW photos and can be converted to JPG format by ISP.

In addition to higher image processing speeds, DSP Photography Solution can reduce the aspect of shot noise due to extraordinary nighttime shots and even enhance the beautification effect of Vivo Face Beauty Mode.

3. Audio Hi-Fi technology with decoder chip DAC

Hi-Fi refers to sound quality and products equipped with High-Fidelity technology, so users can enjoy high-quality music. After carrying Hi-Fi audio on the phone to a new round of Xplay6 phones, Vivo released a Hi-Fi solution with an improved audio performance from a special DAC decoding chip.

This technology development focuses on improving the various audio details through custom-made DAC decoding chips, along with exceptional headphone amplifiers, which enhance SNR, dynamic range aspects, distortion and power output. In theory, this technology is capable of producing audio quality with SNR of 122dB, dynamic range 120dB, distortion -111dB and 2.2VRms power output.

The amplitude output generated is twice as big as the mobile phone in general. In a subjective acoustic assessment, this solution shows better thrust resolution and aspect, and is rich in detail and has a strong spatial perception. Headphone amplifiers use the latest sound processing technology to improve sound power efficiency and overall audio experience.
