XL Axiata 4G LTE Service Reaches Most of the Cities in West Kalimantan

XL Axiata continues to expand the 4G LTE service to various regions in Indonesia. After South and East Kalimantan, XL Axiata’s customers in West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) are now starting to get the fourth generation fast internet service. Since March 2017, customers in 8 of 14 cities/districts in the province are now served by 4G LTE from XL Axiata.

Director / Chief Service Management Officer of XL Axiata, Yessie D Yosetya said in 2017, it is massively expanding its 4G LTE service to XL Axiata service areas. Not only in big cities but also medium and small cities.

“West Kalimantan and Kalimantan, in general, are areas where demand for Data services continues to show significant improvement, averaging up to 99% in recent years.Therefore, the development of LTE 4G network can no longer be delayed in response to the need Customer, “Yessie said.

According to Yessie, data traffic growth in line with the growing of customers who use 4G-capable smartphones. This growth occurs evenly in all XL Axiata service areas. This is also in line with the company’s strategy to focus on Data services for the year 2017. Therefore, the CapEx for this year is prioritized to support the development of Data services from various sides, including the provision of networks to the remote areas.

 

The eight cities/districts in West Kalimantan are now an affordable network of 4G LTE service is Pontianak City, Kab. Kubu Raya, Kab. Ketapang, Kab. Pontianak, Kab. Bengkayang, Kab. Sambas, Singkawang City, and Kab. Sanggau. Gradually, XL Axiata will continue to improve network quality by increasing the coverage area of services in each city by increasing the number of BTS 4G.

Currently, the total 4G BTS available throughout West Kalimantan is 120 BTS 4G. The coverage of 4G LTE services is prioritized in areas that require fast Internet access and digital data, such as government centers, business, commerce, public areas, and education.

The total number of XL Axiata customers throughout West Kalimantan is more than 225 thousand subscribers. As many as 73% of them are actively using Data services. The increase in data service traffic is mainly triggered by access to video content and to various social media. With the LTE 4G network, access to large-capacity content will be better, faster and more stable.

Until the end of 2017, other districts in Kalimantan who will get 4G LTE service include Kab. Banjar, Barito Kuala, Kutai Kartanegara, Balikpapan, Balangan, South Barito, Barito Timur, Berau, Bulungan, Gunung Mas, Hulu Sungai Selatan, Hulu Sungai Tengah, Hulu Sungai Utara, Kapuas, West Kotawaringin, East Kotawaringin, Kutai Barat, Kutai Timur , Nunukan, Pasir, Penajam Paser Utara, Pulang Pisau, Tabalong, Tanah Bumbu, Tanah Laut, Tapin, Kota Baru, Bontang City and Tarakan City. Thus aka tone of about 38 districts / cities in Kalimantan which in 2017 will reach 4G LTE network.

Currently, XL Axiata has served customers in 180 cities/districts in various parts of Indonesia with 4G LTE service. In early April 2017, 4G service was launched in two big cities of East Kalimantan, namely Samarinda and Balikpapan. To date, the total number of XL Axiata subscribers using 4G is more than 15 million. XL Axiata also continues to build infrastructure and support technology for this fast internet. By the end of 2017 XL Axiata aims to build at least 17 thousand BTS 4G to support services in 330 cities/regencies across Indonesia.
