Survey: Increasingly Many Indonesian Women Who Work in the Technology Sector

The assumption that Indonesian women tend to be weak in technology and is a lot of work in the administrative sector or education began to erode. This is evident from a recent survey conducted by the Jobplanet.com showing more and more Indonesian women who work in the field of information technology (IT).

In this survey, Jobplanet involving the respondent’s employees men and women who work in the sector of IT. They are spread all over Indonesia. The interesting thing is, female employees dominates the survey conducted this time. Than 7,500 respondents IT employees who participate in the survey through Jobplanet.com, as much as 64% of whom are Indonesian women and the rest, namely 36%, are men.

Kemas Antonius, Chief Product Officer Jobplanet in Indonesia, saying if the view is in the again the information collected on its website, the respondents employees of the Indonesian women dominate some fields of the profession of TI, namely the field of Graphic Design, Digital Content, Project Management, Data Analysis, and IT Quality Assurance.

As an illustration, a comparison of the number of employees women and men who work in the field of Graphic Design in the survey amounted to 65:35, the Digital Content of 63:37, the Project Management of 62:38, Data Analyst at 59:41, and IT Quality Assurance at 55:45.

“First, technology is often viewed as a field dominated by men. However, the survey Jobplanet this shows that the current has many Indonesian women who work in the field of IT. It also shows that many companies already provide opportunity and confidence to women employees in Indonesia to fill important positions in the field of IT,” said Pack.

The average salary of IT professions 

Still based on the survey, Jobplanet analyzing the average salary of the profession of IT according to the position of the employees in the company. As information, of all employees of the TI respondents, as many as 79% works on the level of staff and 21% work at the level of manager. The professions above has a range of salary is wide enough. For example, the salary range Staff Application Developer starts from IDR1,200,000 (around USD 100) – IDR27,000,000 (around USD 2500), the range of salaries of Staff of Project Management is IDR1,300,000 – IDR30 million, and salary range Staff System Engineer starts from IDR1,000,000 – IDR26,500,000.

While at the manager level, the salary range that is no more. The salary of the Manager UI/UX, for example, starting from IDR3,000,000 – Rp30,000,000. The salary range for Manager of the Information System is IDR2,500,000 – IDR50,000,000 and the range of the salary of the Manager IT Quality Assurance starts from the IDR3,500,000 – IDR50,000,000.
